CHAMBERSBURG, Penn. – Patriot FCU contributed $25,000 to the Franklin County Veterans’ Memorial Park 9/11 Memorial Fund and the United Churches of the Chambersburg Area during a ceremony Monday.

The gift will sponsor the American flagpole at the tribute memorial statue in Patriot’s Park. The park is under construction near the Letterkenny Chapel, which will memorialize the heroes of Sept. 11, 2001. Three steel beams from the World Trade Center on a 10-foot square base will resemble the collapse of the building following the terrorist attacks.
Members of the 9/11 Memorial Committee estimate the cost of the memorial at around $250,000. They plan to dedicate the completed memorial on Armed Forces Day, May 19.
