Pelican State CU’s In-School Branch Comes With Student Perks

BATON ROUGE, La. – Pelican State CU is offering participants at its new in-school branch at Peabody Magnet High School additional benefits.

The credit union is providing students some incentives to do better in school, such as scholarship opportunities and $1 for every A in their report card.

The school will became the first in the Rapides Parish School District to on Wednesday to open a student-run branch. The branch will be linked to the school’s efforts to teach financial education to students.

One component of the in-school branch project involves a Pelican credit counselor teaching students how to balance a check book, how to use a credit card wisely and about credit scores.
