WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Truliant FCU said its members saved more than $1 million through a special savings program that automatically transferred all pennies in an account to a special savings account at the end of each day.
More than 5,200 members participated in the special Rainy Day account, with an average transfer of 47 cents to 54 cents a day.
“Saving money isn’t always easy,” said Donnie Peaks, Truliant’s director of deposit services and creator of the Rainy Day account. “Our goal was to come up with a systematic savings account that made it easy for members to save. Hitting the $1 million in savings mark feels great because we’ve truly helped our members save a substantial amount of money. Best of all, they’ve saved without a lot of effort or hurdles.”
