Pennsylvania State Employees CU Sponsors Reading Program

STATE COLLEGE, Penn. – Pennsylvania State Employees CU has joined the State College Spikes minor league baseball team to sponsor this year’s Spikes “Books & Baseball” reading program.

Participating students in kindergarten through sixth grade are given a bookmark that they use to keep track of the books they read in school or at home. Once the student has read four books, or goes from first base to home plate, he or she earns a free ticket to one of three State College Spikes Books & Baseball games during the 2010 season.

Participating schools can choose to kick off the program with an assembly featuring the Spikes’ mascot, Ike the Spike, and a reading of the classic story “Casey at the Bat.”

At the games, all Books & Baseball students will be honored on the field prior to the game and given a special Books & Baseball pennant courtesy of the credit union.
