SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A prison parolee who evaded police for two years before his May arrest on Friday was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for an identity theft scheme that used stolen Social Security numbers to obtain fake memberships at The Golden 1 CU.

Ricardo Sainz, 45, and his estranged wife, Nora Sainz, used the stolen Social Security numbers and false wage and earning statements in the names of others to open checking accounts, which they used to purchase a Cadillac Escalade and other items.
Nora Sainz was convicted last year and sentenced to three years behind bars for the scheme.
