Redstone FCU Reaffiliates
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-The League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) reported that the $2.6-billion Redstone FCU has reaffiliated with the league after a seven-year absence.
Credit Unions In Mergers
MEDIA, Penn.-The $600-million Franklin Mint FCU and the $52-million Mine Line Health Employees FCU are merging. The combined CU will have 31 branches. Separately, in Louisiana, the $85-million Shreveport FCU has finalized a merger with First Delta FCU, the latter having been conserved by NCUA in 2009. The absorbed CU will operate as the "Delta Division of Shreveport FCU." Business Day Is Longer
RALEIGH, N.C.-At the request of members, State Employees' Credit Union said it has extended its official business day cutoff from 2 pm to 5:30 pm in all branches for same-day credit. The business day is also extended for SECU's online Member Access and Mobile Access services, as well as its ASK-SECU Voice Response phone system.
Charter Oak Recognized
GROTON, Conn.- Charter Oak FCU here has been recently named one of the state's top lenders by The Commercial Record. It was ranked second in refinances/HELOC by number of loans and by dollar volume, third for single-family home mortgages by number of loans and dollar volume, third for in condo mortgages by number of loans and fourth in multi-family homes by number of loans.
Literacy Site Overhauled
WASHINGTON-The Financial Literacy and Education Commission has redesigned its financial literacy education website, MyMoney.gov, adding a number of interactive features and assistance on planning for a number of lifestyle events.
The 'U' In CU
BROCKTON, Mass.-Building on the success of its Multicultural Banking Center, HarborOne CU is launching a full-time financial education series it calls HarborOne U.
Rep. Barney Frank, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, will be on hand to open the educational program, believed to be the only one of its kind in the country, which will be located in the credit union's Mansfield offices.
HarborOne U will offer financial education, including youth financial literacy programs, first-time homebuyers' seminars, credit counseling and classes on retirement and estate planning. HarborOne U will offer seminars and classes on personal finance, as well as life and career management services and small business assistance.
HarborOne's Multicultural Banking Center was opened in September 2007 to provide low- and moderate- income residents with access to financial information to help them avoid predatory lenders and assist those facing foreclosure.
TX Group Seeks Charter
AUSTIN, Texas-Tenura Holdings, an Austin real estate holding company, has applied to regulators for a state charter for what would be iLife CU.
The proposed cCU would be the first chartered in Texas since 2008, when NCUA approved Oak Cliff Christian FCU to serve members and employees of the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas.
iLife CU would serve employees and members of the board of directors of Tenura Holdings, Inc., and its affiliates.
TAD FCU Plans New Hq
SCRANTON, Penn.-Tobyhanna Army Depot FCU has sold the building it called home since 1995 and plans to build new offices at a nearby site it has owned since 2006.
The $150 million CU's plans call for a three-story, 24,000-square-foot building with a drive-through. The project is estimated to cost $4 million.
A Dream Car in 3 Hours
ROCKVILLE, Md.-MCT FCU is promising members a car-buying service that will find their dream auto in three hours or less under its "Everything Autos" program. Members shopping for a vehicle can contact the $450 million credit union and give their preferred vehicle specifications. Loan center representatives then will locate a vehicle, lock in a pre-negotiated price, and finance the loan within three hours at a competitive rate.
