PORTLAND, Ore. – A man who was on parole for a string of nine credit union robberies is headed back to prison for eight more heists at area credit unions in 2007 after he fled parole.
Under a plea deal with federal prosecutors, Marc Rzegocki was sentenced to115 months in prison followed by three years supervised release. The sentence will run concurrently with a parole revocation sentence he is currently serving in connection with his 1986 bank robbery conviction.
The latest charges against Rzegocki stem from a series of hold-ups between June and August 2007 while he was on parole for his 1986 conviction.
In the latest string, Rzegocki made off with just $23,124 from the eight credit unions, including Unitus CU (twice), Advantis CU, Oregon Pioneer FCU, Oregonians FCU, Rivermark Community CU (twice) and Pacific Cascade FCU. The amounts stolen ranged from as little as $630 to a high of $9,703.
Under an agreement with prosecutors, he agreed to plead guilty to five of the robberies and pay full restitution for all eight incidents.
