CHARLESTON, S.C. – Six individuals were sentenced to prison for bank fraud last week for a scheme that obtained more than $800,000 in purported auto loans that were converted to personal use instead.
The group used phony documents to qualify for loans from a variety of credit unions and banks, including Vystar CU, Charleston Area FCU, Heritage Trust FCU, Navy FCU, South Carolina FCU, Truliant FCU, Space Coast CU, Carolinas Foothills FCU, South Carolina Telco FCU, CPM FCU, Community 1 FCU, and several banks.
Sentenced for conspiracy to commit bank fraud were William Toadvine and his father Donald Toadvine, Floyd Hargrove, Daniel Kosmer Jr., Joyce Pozniko, and Elizabeth Donnelly, were all sentenced for providing false statements on a loan application.
A seventh individual, Colin Slaven, has pled guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and still awaits sentencing.
William and Donald Toadvine were each sentenced to twenty-four months; Floyd Hargrove was sentenced to twelve months; Kosmer, Pozniko and Donnelly were each sentenced to three years of probation or supervised release. A sentencing date for Slaven has yet to be scheduled.
