Riverside FCU Buys Former Bank Branch

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Riverside FCU said it is branching into nearby Amherst for the first time with a deal to purchase a recently closed branch of Greater Buffalo Savings Bank.

The branch was built just two years ago and closed earlier this year following First Niagara Bank's acquisition of the bank. The credit union agreed to pay $1.3 million for the building.

The credit union was formed in 1941 by employees of the General Motors Corp. Town of Tonawanda engine plant. The credit union has more than 5,200 members and assets of more than $43 million.
