KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A man who pleaded guilty to robbing two banks and two credit unions here from December 2005 to March 2006 has been sentenced to 28 years in federal prison.
Eddie Mills, 28, of Kalamazoo, in September pleaded guilty to five counts of armed robbery of a bank and/or credit union and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Mills was sentenced Tuesday.
Mills made off with more than $160,000 from the four robberies here. He also faced charges for robbing a bank in Lafayette, Ind., where about $44,000 was stolen.
Four co-defendants suspected of being involved in one or more of the robberies have been sentenced or are awaiting sentencing. Mills was ordered to spend five years on supervised release after he is discharged from prison and to pay restitution totaling more than $216,000.
