GILBERT, Ariz. – Police are looking for a man who robbed a Tempe Schools CU branch yesterday and left behind a fake bomb discovered in a trash can inside the business before he fled with cash.

The robber was wearing a black "Crocodile Dundee" style hat as he entered the credit union with a handgun and demanded cash, according to police.
The alleged robber didn’t make any threats about having a bomb. He only demanded cash. But as he was leaving, the man apparently disposed in the trash what police described as a "block-type" bomb — about the size of a car battery — in a backpack.
The simulated bomb weighed about 10 pounds and is not something that would have exploded.
The credit union closed for the business day, and will re-open today.
