A suspect arrested and charged with the recent armed robbery at Carolina Postal CU may want to re-think his strategy next time.
The suspect walked into the credit union and agreed to fill out a Christmas card for American soldiers in Iraq, filled out the card and put it in an envelope. After he handed it over he pulled out a gun and ordered the teller to fill up a plastic grocery bag with cash.
But the armed bandit, later identified as Gregory Stacey, 28, by the fingerprints on the card, did not get far. Police used the fingerprints to post wanted posters, which induced him to give himself up. Stacey was charged with the Oct. 27 robbery, as well as a hold-up the week before at Piedmont Aviation CU.
