Robbers Get 30 Years For $85,000 CU Heist

FRESNO, Calif. – One of two men sentenced yesterday to 30 years in prison for the 2005 robbery of $85,000 at Valley First CU in nearby Turlock asked the judge just before sentencing if he could stay in Stanislaus County’s downtown jail until early August so he could marry his fiancée.

The request was made by Elmar Scott, 35, who along with Rashod Bradshaw, 34, was convicted of robbery, assault with a firearm and stealing more than $50,000. During the robbery, the two men ordered credit union members to the ground and forced a branch manager to open a vault while pointing semiautomatic handguns at them.

Following the robbery, police pulled over the getaway driver, Dashelle Harris, after a high-speed chase that topped 100 mph and ended at a gas station in Modesto. They found Scott and Bledsaw in the trunk with the money, handguns and masks from the robbery.

Harris was sentenced to seven years in prison last August.
