Robber’s Three Strikes Brings 20 Years Behind Bars

SAN DIEGO – A man who robbed three area institutions – including the same North Island FCU branch twice in a month – was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years and four months in state prison.

Alberto Alatorre, 35, got away with almost $14,000 from the three robberies.

Alatorre used a semiautomatic gun to rob the North Island branch on Palm Avenue last Nov. 6, but did not use a gun when he robbed the same teller and another teller on Dec. 2, according to police.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect during the crimes.
