RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Police believe they have ended the bank-robbery spree – from Riverside to Rialto – of a slight, purse-carrying man dressed in a wig and women's makeup.
Darryl Depastino, dubbed the "Masquerade Bandit," believed to have robbed Altura CU last month, was arrested Tuesday, shortly after he is suspected of holding up a Guaranty Bank branch.
In Tuesday’s bank heist the suspect disguised himself as a female while handing a threatening note to the teller, police said. He demanded large bills, warning that if the teller didn't comply, things would "get ugly."
After the credit union hold-up, tellers told police the suspect's makeup resembled that of a clown.
The suspect is being investigated for possible involvement in other area robberies.
