SAN DIEGO – San Diego County Credit Union, the largest locally based financial institution in this city, announced its agreement to extend its title sponsorship of the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl through the 2010 game, with options for 2011 and 2012.
SDCCU has been the title sponsor of the game since its inception in 2005. SDCCU is the nation’s only credit union to serve as a title sponsor of a college football bowl game.
The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl is the only current college bowl game that benefits a charity. For every admission ticket sold, $1 will go directly to the San Diego Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, enabling the organization to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
The 2009 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, to be played on Dec. 23, will feature a team from the Mountain West Conference against a member of the Pacific-10 Athletic Conference or Western Athletic Conference. The game will be played at Qualcomm Stadium and will be broadcast on ESPN TV and ESPN Radio.
