SAN DIEGO — Stan Abrams is stepping down as president and chief executive of San Diego Metropolitan Credit Union next year.
The $260 million-asset community-chartered credit union said Abrams will retire March 31, 2017. He has served in his leadership roles since 2010. The board of directors will form a committee to search for his successor, the CU said in a news release.
Previously, Abrams worked nearly 15 years as CEO of Partners Federal Credit Union, which serves employees of the Walt Disney Co., and he has been principal of his own management consulting firm, Abrams and Associates Consulting.
His first CEO opportunity came at South Bay Credit Union in Redondo Beach, Calif., after which he worked for the California Credit Union League as a member of Orange County Teachers Federal Credit Union's senior management.
"Stan's passion for Credit Unions and SDMCU in particular has been ever present in his leadership style," Michael Ahlering, SDMCU's chairman, said in the release. "He provided balanced guidance through some of the toughest economic challenges for credit unions in California, rebuilding ROA and net worth throughout that time."
