ALEXANDRIA, Va. The NCUA Board at next week’s meeting will review a request from San Francisco FCU to expand its community charter from serving the 810,000 residents of San Francisco County to also serve the 725,000 residents in San Mateo County to the south.

The proposed charter would cover two-thirds of the three-county San Francisco metropolitan statistical area.
Because the combined FOM would exceed one million, the $820-million credit union needs NCUA Board approval, and not just the regional office.
