SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose CU turned 80 years old Sunday and is celebrating by giving away 80 prizes, including cash, movie tickets and other largesse.
Mondays through Thursdays starting today, two winners will each receive two AMC Gold Experience tickets. On Fridays, one winner will win two movie tickets plus an additional prize of $80 cash.
Members can enter the drawings through a form located on the credit union’s website through April 26.
The $130-million credit union was chartered in 1932 as Municipal Employees’ CU of San Jose with only four members. It ended its first fiscal year with $262 in deposits. The fourth charter member, Lawrence Campbell, a retired San Jose Firefighter Chief who turns 105 this April, recalls that the credit union was started by a handful of people to provide each other “good and handy service.”
