VENTURA, Calif.-The $542-million Ventura County CU opened 315 new accounts on Bank Transfer Day. The credit union is usually closed on Saturdays, but increased its hours in response to consumer demand.
"We thought it would be a good idea to open our doors on Saturday," Joe Schroeder, president and CEO of VCCU, said in a release. "We anticipated activity, but didn't realize the response would be this great."
Since Oct. 1, Ventura County CU has added approximately 1,100 new members, more than twice the normal activity.
