ROCK HILL, S.C. – Two teens who plotted to set off a pipe bomb at a local elementary school to divert police from a planned robbery at Founders FCU a year ago were sentenced to jail terms last week.
On the morning of the planned robbery, the sheriff’s office received a Crime Stoppers tip that the men were sleeping in an abandoned house, and a SWAT team was able to arrest the men before they could act on the plan. When the SWAT team entered the abandoned house, they found two pipe bombs sitting on a kitchen counter.
Four suspects were arrested and charged in the case, including one man and his nephew, both of whom are awaiting sentencing.
Last week William Puckett, 19, was sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison and Edgar Williams, IV, also 19, was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison, for their roles in the plot.
