The $530 million credit union’s "Operation : Cooperation" will award prizes of $500 to $5,000 for creative projects that answer the question how people "come together and share a resource to achieve a goal."

As part of the project, Seattle Metro and Reel Grrls, a Seattle-based after-school media training program that seeks to empower girls to critique media images, will host a Resource Day, where groups can perform or share their creative project. The projects will be filmed and photographed and uploaded to http://opcoop.coop to be entered into the credit union’s Operation : Cooperation contest.

Members of the public are invited to vote for the best entry. Four winners will be chosen.

The program follows Seattle Metro’s popular 2008 "Pay it Forward" project which invited anyone to stop by a downtown branch and explain what they would do if given $10. Participants were filmed and viewers voted for their favorite over YouTube.
