Second Quarter Earnings Flat at Equifax

ATLANTA – Credit bureau Equifax last week reported its second quarter profit rose just 1%, even as sales rose 10%.

The company reported net income of $70.8 million, or 54 cents a share, for the quarter, compared with $70.1 million, or 51 cents a share, a year ago. Sales rose to $501.9 million from $454.5 million a year ago.

The company said sales in its United States consumer information solutions division fell 9% to $228 million due to continued weakness in the U.S. economy. The division includes the data management and fraud prevention services.

Sales in its international division rose 19% to $137.5 million with increases in Europe, Latin America and Canada.
