PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Service CU yesterday announced it is contributing $25,000 to help poor New Hampshire families heat their homes this winter.

Officials with the $1 billion credit union presented the check to Gov. John Lynch at the state Capitol in Concord yesterday.
The money will be divided among community action programs to ensure people in all 10 of the state’s counties have heat.
The credit union said it also is lowering its interest rate on unsecured loans to pay for fuel.
