ANAHEIM, Calif. A young man who often carried a snowboard under his arm while he robbed as many as 12 area credit unions and banks including two at SchoolsFirst FCU branches on Friday was ordered to stand trial.
Michael Franks, 30, was charged with three counts of robbery, four counts of burglary and two counts of attempted robbery for four alleged crimes between April 11 and May 4, 2012.
Franks’ “Snowboarder Bandit” moniker stemmed from the suspect’s youthful appearance and the knit hats and ski clothes worn during some of the holdups.
The robberies netted about $30,000 from Dec. 20, 2011, through March 21 of last year.
