ANAHEIM, Calif. – A young man who usually carries a snowboard under his arm as he has held up nine area institutions is believed responsible for Monday’s robbery at SchoolsFirst FCU, the second SchoolsFirst branch he has hit.
The robber, who normally wears a beanie and sunglasses as he robs banks, instead wore a motorcycle helmet and black jacket as he robbed the credit union branch on East Santa Ana Canyon Road, police said.
Investigators think the robber – believed to be about 25 years old – is responsible for nine robberies in Orange County since December. The “Snowboarder Bandit” started his spree on Dec. 20 and is wanted for seven other holdups in Anaheim, Irvine, Newport Beach and elsewhere in south Orange County.
SchoolsFirst and Wells Fargo are each offering a $5,000 reward for an arrest and conviction of the bandit.
