SOMERSET, Mass. — Somerset Federal Credit Union has named Pamela Mello to the position of president and CEO of the $138-million institution.
Mello replaces Joyce Magno who recently retired.
Somerset FCU said Mello has spent 23 years at McCoy Federal Credit Union, a $478-million institution based in Orlando, Fla., where she served for 21 years in senior management positions, most recently as vice president of operations and vice president of risk management.
Mello has also been an NAFCU-certified compliance officer since 2003, with a special interest in fraud prevention. In addition, she has served on various credit union industry organizations, taught credit union executive courses and led charitable efforts to benefit homeless children.
Somerset FCU also announced that it elected Sally Evans as chair of the board of directors, following her nomination at the credit union's annual meeting in February.
Evans initially served on the board's supervisory committee, and as a board member served on the asset/liability management (ALM) committee, the building committee, and the personnel committee.
A librarian by profession, Evans holds an MS in Library Science from the University of Rhode Island. She became a credit union member during her tenure at the Somerset Public Library.
"I have been honored to serve on the board and am now proud to serve as chair," Evans said in a statement. "Together with our new CEO, Pamela Mello, I look forward to continuing the excellence of the credit union and increasing its role in Somerset and Bristol County."
