CARBONDALE, Ill. – SIU CU yesterday said it has hired Dennis Schaefer, a long-time credit union executive, as its new president and CEO.

Schaefer will succeed Ron Lantrip, who retired in March as head of the $141 million credit union after 28 years on the job.
Schaefer has worked as the loan department manager of DeKalb County Teachers FCU in Atlanta, was CEO of the State Employee CU in New Orleans, and worked as vice president and chief lending officer at First Community CU in Houston.
