CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The former vice president of operations at Star USA FCU on Monday pleaded guilty to using false information to obtain $80,000 in loans from the credit union.
Michelle Morris, 37, used relatives’ names and identifying information to fraudulently obtain loans from the credit union. During her employment, Morris created fraudulent loans and home equity credit lines — ranging from $5,000 to $134,000 — using relatives’ information. Proceeds from some loans were used to pay off earlier fraudulent loans.
Morris worked as vice president of operations at the credit union’s St. Albans branch until 2007, then in the same position at its Cantley branch.
Morris will be sentenced Nov. 29.
