State Charters Continue To Seek Big, New FOMs

State-chartered credit unions here, which have been privy to some of the broadest field of membership grants, are applying for ever-larger FOM powers.

Among them are new requests from Neighborhood CU, (formerly Dallas Postal CU) to serve 5.3-million residents in seven surrounding counties: Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, Collin, Rockwall, Kaufman and Ellis; from Pegasus CU, Dallas, to serve 3.5-million people in Dallas, Denton and Collin counties; and OmniAmerican CU, Fort Worth, to expand add the three million people in Dallas and Denton counties. Separately, the Texas CU Department said Tuesday it approved an application from United Heritage CU to serve almost two million people in seven surrounding counties; and TruWest CU, (formerly Motorola Employees CU-West), of Scottsdale, Ariz., was granted permission to serve almost 900,000 people in Travis County.
