TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - When it comes to forecasting the second half of 2008, it helps to have some “Radar.”
That’s one benefit Credit Union 24 said its credit unions now have available to them, a service it calls Strategic Radar Dynamic Monitoring.
It’s being offered at the same time Credit Union 24 reports its member credit unions are offering up a pessimistic forecast of their own for the economy.
“I’ve talked with a lot of our CEOs over the last few months and expectations are that we will begin to see a clearing within the next year,” shared Credit Union 24 President Jim Park. “The question is when. Obviously the price of oil is the catalyst to the recovery. The guesses are all over, from six months to 24. But the most common estimate is 12 months.”
Meanwhile, Credit Union 24 here–which claims to be the nation’s largest surcharge-free ATM network – is helping CUs it serves “weather the storm” by providing advice about the changing economy and recommending solutions.
“We are trying to provide our members with as much information as we can about the industry and the economy,” Park explained. “That’s why we are a sponsor of Strategic Radar.”
Strategic Radar Dynamic Monitoring is a series of reports to support a credit union’s strategic plan, tracking major changes in external market forces and identifying possible new trends and strategic moves. It’s driven by a panel of 50 credit union CEOs, and available on a semi-annual basis, Park said.
“Strategic Radar will be delivered to our customers by our relationship managers,” Park explained. Credit Union 24 currently has five relationship managers who function as “advisors” to clients on EFT matters.
“We are leveraging the knowledge of some of the brightest CEOs in the industry and combining that with the expertise of our relationship managers–who have more than 75 years of credit union EFT experience,” Park explained. “Our relationship managers will also be performing competitive network and interchange rate analysis and finding ways to maximize dollars spent and reducing costs in the EFT environment.”
