Andrews Builds On Social Media

SUITLAND, Md.-Andrews FCU here started a social media blitz by creating accounts on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, as well as starting its own blog. Visitors to each one of these sites are able to talk about financial literacy, share nostalgic experiences, and tell others about what the credit union is doing. "Social networking is an instant form of communication and it allows us to meet our members where they are," said VP of marketing Janine Roberts. Head to www.andrewsfcu.org to see the new sites.

 

SACU Adds New Channel

SAN ANTONIO-San Antonio FCU is giving prospective members another way to join and is giving existing members a new channel to start additional relationships. The $2.7-billion credit union is opening new accounts via a secure Internet channel; it is accepting applications for ATM and debit cards, PhoneLink service, and Internet banking. Current members can open services and most deposit products, with the exception of IRAs.

CU Hosts Twitter Scavenger Hunt

FERNDALE, Mich.-Credit Union ONE here helped make the transition back into school for students at Oakland University when it hosted an on-campus scavenger hunt through Twitter. Nine students earned prizes totaling $1,200. For three days in Sept., the credit union tweeted clues that led to three locations at OU. Each location had a prize card with a five-digit number. The first student to tweet that number back to the CU's account received $250. The second and third students to do so earned $110 and $50 respectively. Hundreds more Twitterers are following Credit Union ONE because of the promotion.
