GREEN BAY, Wis. – A 17-year-old former employee at Fox Community CU was arrested Friday in connection with an armed robbery at the credit union the day before.
Julian Rubio is accused of using a nine-inch knife in the hold-up.
The teenager allegedly concealed his face with a bandanna and forced his way into the branch when two employees opened it, then threatened them with the knife. He removed an undisclosed amount of money from the vault, then ran to his vehicle that he had parked on the street a short distance away, according to police.
One of the employees recognized the suspect's voice as that of Rubio's, who worked at the credit union as a co-op student from Green Bay Preble High School.
Rubio was arrested at his house and led police to a field where he hid the backpack used in the robbery, police said. The backpack contained the clothes he was wearing at the time of the crime, the knife, and money taken in the robbery.
