OREM, Utah – A 16-year-old male allegedly took his mother’s car and held up branches of America First CU and Central Bank within 20 minutes last month.
The teenager drove up to the institutions’ drive-through windows, where he allegedly passed a note to the teller asking for money and indicating he had a weapon, police said.
Shortly after the second robbery, Orem police found the car abandoned in a residential neighborhood about six blocks from the credit union. Police said the teen was spotted unarmed, walking a short distance from the car.
Officers said they recovered a BB gun – allegedly belonging to the suspect – at another undisclosed location.
The teen is scheduled to appear in juvenile court later this month.
