HAVERHILL, Mass. – A 19-year-old part-time teller at Merrimack Valley FCU was charged Tuesday with stealing $21,200 from an elderly couple’s account and using the money for a trip to Amsterdam.
Prosecutors told the district court judge that the funds are gone and that Andreas Getsim had spent it all on a trip to Europe. The judge set bail at $10,000 cash and ordered Getsim to surrender his passport.
Court records show the victims, from Haverhill, were an 86-year-old man, who died earlier this month, and his 88-year-old wife.
Police said there may be other victims.
