HOUSTON – A former intern at Investex CU was sentenced Friday to 13-and-a-half years behind bars for organizing two separate armed robberies at the credit union that netted him and accomplices almost $330,000.
In the first robbery the 19-year-old Dorcell Johnson, an intern at the credit union who did customer service work, pretended to be taken hostage and planned the robbery when a masked shotgun-wielding robber took $126,750. That robber and the getaway car driver have not been caught.
Just three months later in a heist planned by the teenager, two masked men made off with $202,250. The two accomplices, Dominique Ervin, 20, and Carl Preston, 19, have both been sentenced to prison for their roles.
Johnson pleaded guilty to aggravated bank robbery and aiding the brandishing of a firearm during a robbery and was sentenced to a total of 162 months in prison.
