Teens Snagged In ATM Deposit Scheme

STORMVILLE, N.Y. – Three teenagers were arrested and charged with petty larceny for withdrawing $2,000 from a Hudson Valley FCU ATM in a checking depositing scheme.

The teens allegedly opened separate checking accounts at the credit union’s Hopewell Junction branch. They would deposit empty envelopes at the ATM, alleging various deposit amounts, then would return to the credit union to withdraw the funds from their accounts, police said.

The three were issued appearance tickets, and will go before a judge in the Town of East Fishkill Court at a later date.
