TEXARKANA, Texas – A former teller at TEXAR FCU apologized Wednesday for stealing almost $53,000 from the credit union Wednesday before she received a lenient sentence of one day in jail and five years supervised release.

Wendy McDonald, 35, was also ordered to pay restitution of $52,696.

McDonald told authorities she stole the money by creating phony loans at two branches she managed between Sept. 2007 and Oct. 2008.
