MAPLE GROVE, Minn. TopLine FCU won a $294,000 affordable housing grant from the Federal Home Loan bank of Des Moines that will be used to provide 50 homeowners in Brooklyn Park which has been hit by a high rate of foreclosures make improvements to their homes.
The FHLB grant will be used to make forgivable loans to needy homeowners through the Brooklyn Park Home Repair Assistance, which was created with FHLB funding. The $325-million credit union will administer the loans.
“The funding made available through our partnership with FHLB Des Moines is filling a critical housing reinvestment niche in the community. Many Brooklyn Park homeowners without access to capital will be able to make needed home repairs,” said Brooklyn Park Mayor Jeffrey Lunde.
