Towpath Credit Union in Fairlawn, Ohio, has named Michael Sferro as its new president and CEO, effective Jan. 1.
Sferro succeeds Rose Bartolomucci, who retired from the $190 million-asset credit union at the end 2022. She joined Towpath in 2009.
Sferro began his career at Towpath in 2014 after working for a couple large, commercial banks. At Towpath, Sferro began as branch manager then took the roles of vice president of lending, senior vice president, and most recently executive vice president.
"I stand in Mike's corner with great confidence that as Towpath's chief executive he will continue his rapid rise as a top leader for both [the] credit union and the credit union movement," said Paul Mercer, president of the Ohio Credit Union League, in a press release Monday.
Towpath serves 26,000 members across four branches.
The credit union had total loans of $115.8 million, including $49.6 million in used car loans, at the end of the third quarter of 2022, according to data from American Share Insurance.
