Members of District 8 Highway Employees Credit Union approved a proposal to merge into Metro Credit Union.
Both credit unions are based in Springfield, Mo., and the vote took place on Tuesday. Kevin Stubblefield, president and CEO of Metro, confirmed that District 8’s members approved the move.

According to a notice on District 8’s website, the merger is expected to be effective April 1.
Metro said on its website that the combined credit union will carry the Metro Credit Union name and have about 8,500 members and $80 million in assets.
The $59 million-asset Metro posted net income of about $277,000 in 2018, a 33 percent drop from the prior year.
The $18 million-asset District 8 recorded net income of about $177,000 last year, a 16.9 percent decline from 2017.
