University Of Iowa Community CU Plans $30 Million Admin Center

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Fast-growing University of Iowa CU last week unveiled plans to build a new member support center in nearby North Liberty.

Plans call for construction of a 100,000- to 125,000-square-foot building on a 25-acre site the company purchased east of Interstate 380 and south of Penn Street in North Liberty. Estimated cost of the project is $25 million to $30 million.

"The vision is to build a facility with the next 30 or 40 years in mind, allowing UICCU to grow without leasing additional office space while centralizing back-office processes for greater efficiencies and improved service," Jeff Disterhoft, president of the $990 million credit union, said in a letter to members on Friday.

The facility will be home to the call center, accounting department, loan and deposit processing, indirect auto lending, collections, information technologies, auditing, commercial services, business development, public relations, human resources, marketing, and senior management, and could house as many as 400 employees.

A branch may also be included in the project.
