MADISON, Wis. – University Of Wisconsin CU said yesterday it has agreed to acquire a Waukesha branch from The Equitable Bank, its second recent acquisition of a bank building in the Milwaukee suburbs.

The Equitable branch is expected to reopen as a branch of the $1.2 billion credit union in the summer of 2011 and will be the Madison-based credit union’s fourth in the Milwaukee area. Earlier this year UW CU bought a branch in Wauwatosa from Amcore Bank, which went bust last month.
Wauwatosa-based The Equitable Bank lost $4.8 million in 2009, but posted a net of $221,000 in the first quarter of this year.
