US FCU in Minnesota Will Change Name to Firefly

BURNSVILLE, Minn.-- US Federal Credit Union plans to change its name to Firefly Credit Union in March.

The $1 billion institution is adopting the new moniker to "better reflect our mission and growing membership," according to a news release.

The timing comes as US FCU has expanded its field-of-membership rules to include anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school or volunteers in the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

US FCU, which says it was the first credit union in Minnesota, was founded in 1925 by and for employees of the Minneapolis Post Office. It has about 72,000 members and operates eight branches in Bloomington, Brooklyn Park, Burnsville, Fridley, Lakeville, Minneapolis, Northfield and Shakopee.
