UVA Community CU, Northern Piedmont FCU Complete Merger

University of Virginia Community Credit Union in Charlottesville, Va., has completed its merger with Northern Piedmont Federal Credit Union in Warrenton, Va.

The $743 million-asset UVA Community completed integration of the $20 million-asset Northern Piedmont's member accounts into its core platform, according to a Friday news release.

As a result of the combination, UVA Community now has about 70,000 members. Prior to the merger agreement, Northern Piedmont had obtained regulatory approval to expand its field of membership into Culpeper, Fauquier, and Rappahannock counties. UVA Community plans to expand its marketing into those areas to obtain new members.

Northern Piedmont was founded in 1954 to serve the now-closed Vint Hill Farms Station U.S. Army base in Fauquier County, Va. Prior to its merger with UVA Community, Northern Piedmont operated two branches in Warrenton.
