Violent CU Robber Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison

DAYTON, Ohio — A man who tried unsuccessfully to kidnap a credit union manager in order to force entry into her credit union, was sentenced last week to 15 years behind bars for another credit union robbery, of Abbey CU, in Vandalia.

Chukwuemeka Eziolisa, 25, pleaded guilty on March 25, 2010 to one count of armed credit union robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence for the December 2009 heist.

As part of a plea deal, Eziolisa admitted to following the manager of a DayMet CU branch and trying to abduct her as she stopped at a restaurant on her way home. Eziolisa pulled up next to her car, pointed a gun at her, and told the manager to get in his car intending to take her back to the credit union so he could rob it. The manager thwarted the attempted abduction, assault and robbery by yelling, fleeing to a neighboring business and obtaining help, while Eziolisa fled the scene.

Eziolisa also admitted robbing a check cashing business in Huber Heights on December 5, 2009.
