Virginia CU Taps Shockley to Succeed Watkins as CEO

Virginia Credit Union in Richmond has named a new chief executive.

Christopher Shockley will become president and CEO of Virginia CU on March 31. He will succeed Jane Watkins, who has worked for the $2.7 billion-asset institution for 34 years.

Shockley has been an executive vice president at Virginia CU since 2007, and has had senior-level responsibility for branches, member services, consumer and real estate lending, business services and other areas. He joined the credit union in 2003.

Watkins has been CEO of Virginia CU for more than 15 years. She announced in June her plans to retire this year.

Virginia CU has about 240,000 members and branches in Richmond, Henrico, Glen Allen and other parts of the Richmond area.
