Virtual StrongBox has secured another patent for its digital safe-deposit boxes and encryption technology for secure stored data.
The technology behind the Charlotte, N.C.-based company’s third patent allows for end-to-end security on mobile devices used by the financial industry, the company said in a news release Tuesday.
Members of credit unions that offer the new technology will be able to store copies of personal documents, such as wills, deeds and tax returns, on their smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.
“These protections are especially important to high-risk industries that deal with sensitive consumer data, like banks, credit unions, insurance, healthcare and government,” Ron Daly, Virtual StrongBox president and chief executive, said in the release. “Enterprises can now benefit from cloud convenience and the growing use of mobile devices with the peace of mind that they’re not sacrificing security.”
