SAN FRANCISCO – Cards giant Visa reported a 41% surge in second quarter earnings yesterday, as more money changed hands using its credit and debit cards – particularly outside the United States.
Net income for the quarter was $422 million, or 51 cents a share, up from $299 million for the same quarter last year.
Revenue rose to $1.61 billion, from $1.37 billion a year ago, fueled by a 19% jump in payments volume.
