JACKSONVILLE, Fla. VyStar CU has launched a new service through Identity Theft 911 that will monitor social media sites for potential identity theft of youth.
The service, known as SocialScout, focuses on social networking of children ages 9-17 and alerts parents when possibly compromising information is captured or shared on these networks as well as other threats.
SocialScout is an online Parental Intelligence System that helps parents monitor and quickly analyze their child’s social networking and mobile phone activitykeeping parents informed of predators, cyberbullies and reputation-damaging behavior. SocialScout provides a comprehensive look at a child’s social network behavior, including access to their actions on Smartphone email and text messaging.
VyStar is also offering FraudlScout and LifeStages Identity Management Services for little to no cost to its members. VyStar is the first credit union to offer SocialScout.
Around the clock, the service scours through millions of credit and public data on a continuous basis to keep information safe. FraudScout will help protect VyStar members and their families by identifying activity that might indicate personal information has been compromised alerting members potentially days or months before it would be detected without a monitoring service.
"SocialScout provides comprehensive social network, smartphone email and text message monitoring for BlackBerry and Android devices. It can even help you translate the text messages they might send or receive. Applications supported include Facebook, Twitter and MySpace,” the credit union said.
"As a credit union, we're dedicated to serving as trusted advisors to help members through every aspect of their lives," said Terry West, president of the $4.7 billion credit union. “FraudScout will help protect VyStar members and their families by identifying activity that might indicate personal information has been compromised - alerting members potentially days or months before it would be detected without a monitoring service.
"VyStar Credit Union has taken an important step in protecting their customers by being the first credit union to offer SocialScout,” said Matt Cullina, CEO of IDentity Theft 911.
